I’m in love again….

Over the years my decor style has changed. *now there’s a shocker*
I’ve gone from country floral and all things home-made, to ethnic-full on jewel tones, buddhas, & elephants…..to where I am today which is a mish mash of all things that I love. Years ago, when I was living in my first apartment I decided “I will NEVER live in white walls again!!!”. Well, here I am 26 years later (shocks me to realize it’s been that long!) and I love the Benjamin Moore “Cloud White” walls surrounding me.

Ever look around the house at a piece of furniture and think “sure, you had a place at one time….now–not so much”.
That’s how I felt about my bed. What I once looked at and thought of as an amazing and beautiful 4-poster….just wasn’t cutting it anymore as I now have a different vision of the room I want to create. This new vision for the bedroom is of a French/Italian inspired retreat in a neutral colour palette, with soft bedding made of natural linen, and linen curtains blowing in the breeze created by the open door. What bliss!

And so began the metamorphosis…….

Before

Our bed was painted in Paris Grey and Old White with Antique wash, accented with gold and silver gilding.

This amazing transformation was courtesy of a lovely lady in Calgary, Alberta. Owner and creative guru of Vintage Squirrel Decor. She uses products called Annie Sloan Chalk Paints.

One word. GORGEOUS.

Yes, I am in ♥ again!!

I must say that I owe a large part of this to my other half. He convinced me that the bed was indeed amazing and to keep it (maybe due in large part to the $$$ of the other beds I was oggling). So that set off my mission to find someone who could re-create it into the masterpiece it now is.
Yes, I’m glad I did listen (this time) hehe 😉

(A little disclaimer here….the bedroom is still a work in progress so ignore the closet doors propped against the window– which by the way, have now become garden doors) To be continued….

    Hi Ladies,
This is the Pulaski bed called the Edwardian. I have been looking for these pieces and I found them too far away though. I absolutely love them!! There is a 3 or 4 pieces beautiful armoire. I think it was sold about 7 years ago. Gotta find it used. Love your paint on it!!

  2. I absolutely LOVE this bed! My mother in law has the same bed and we have no idea where she bought it or who makes it. Do you have any idea at all?

Wow it is gorgeous!! Hard to believe it’s the same bed. The carving really stands out.

Yes, she did a marvelous job of transforming it! I can’t wait to set it up in the room once we finish the trim and paint. Hmmmmm……I may have to get some new bedding that’s worthy 😉
